About Foothills Auto Care

Foothills Auto Care is a growing professional mobile auto detailing company serving Alcoa, Maryville, Knoxville, and surrounding areas.

We work on a wide variety of vehicles, from everyday drivers and work trucks to luxury and high-end vehicles. Our services include routine maintenance detailing, interior and exterior details, paint polishing and correction, ceramic coatings, and other professional automotive appearance services.

As our client base continues to grow, we are looking to add a dependable and motivated Auto Detailing Technician to our team.

This position is a great fit for someone who enjoys working with vehicles, takes pride in doing quality work, and wants the opportunity to grow with a small business. Previous detailing experience is helpful, but it is not required for the right person. We are willing to train someone who has a strong work ethic, pays attention to detail, and is willing to learn.

Position Overview

The Auto Detailing Technician will assist with and eventually complete professional detailing services for Foothills Auto Care clients.

The position will begin as part-time, with hours based on our schedule and workload. As the business continues to grow and the right person becomes more experienced and independent, there will be opportunities for additional hours, increased pay, and greater responsibility.

At first, you will work alongside the owner and receive hands-on training on our detailing processes, equipment, products, and quality standards.

The goal is to develop the right person into someone who can eventually complete services independently, communicate professionally with clients, and help operate our mobile detailing setup.

What You’ll Be Doing

Your day-to-day responsibilities may include:

• Washing and safely drying vehicle exteriors
• Cleaning wheels, tires, wheel wells, and exterior surfaces
• Vacuuming vehicle interiors
• Cleaning interior plastics, leather, vinyl, and other surfaces
• Cleaning windows and mirrors
• Performing routine maintenance details for recurring clients
• Assisting with full interior and exterior details
• Assisting with larger or more involved detailing jobs
• Setting up and breaking down mobile detailing equipment
• Keeping tools, equipment, towels, and supplies clean and organized
• Mixing and preparing detailing chemicals as directed
• Helping maintain a clean and professional work environment
• Following established detailing processes and quality standards
• Performing a final inspection of completed work
• Communicating professionally and respectfully around clients
• Treating every vehicle with care, including luxury and high-end vehicles

As you gain experience, additional responsibilities may include:

• Completing maintenance details independently
• Operating the mobile detailing trailer
• Driving a company vehicle when applicable
• Towing and maneuvering a small detailing trailer
• Communicating with clients before and after appointments
• Assisting with paint polishing and correction
• Assisting with ceramic coating preparation and installation
• Training future team members
• Taking on increased responsibility within the business

You do not need to know everything about professional detailing before applying. A positive attitude, reliability, attention to detail, and willingness to learn are extremely important to us.

Requirements

Applicants should:

• Have a valid driver’s license
• Have reliable transportation to and from work
• Be able to reliably arrive at scheduled jobs and meeting locations
• Be able to perform physical work for extended periods
• Be able to bend, kneel, reach, and work inside vehicles
• Be able to safely lift and move detailing equipment and supplies
• Be comfortable working outdoors
• Be comfortable around water, cleaning chemicals, and detailing equipment
• Be willing to follow safety procedures and company processes
• Be able to maintain a professional appearance and attitude around clients

The ability to eventually drive a company vehicle and tow a small detailing trailer is preferred.

Experience

Previous experience in any of the following areas is helpful, but not required:

• Professional auto detailing
• Car washing
• Automotive work
• Pressure washing
• Landscaping or other outdoor work
• Cleaning or janitorial work
• Customer service
• Other physically active, hands-on jobs

We are willing to train the right person.

Schedule

This position will begin as part-time, with hours depending on the weekly workload and appointment schedule.

Applicants with flexible weekday availability are preferred. Some weekend work may occasionally be available or required depending on scheduling and customer demand.

Because this is a growing small business, weekly hours may vary, especially during the initial training period. There is potential for more consistent hours as the employee becomes trained, the business grows, and additional responsibilities are taken on.

What This Job Is Really Like

Professional detailing is rewarding, but it is also physical work.

You may spend several hours standing, bending, kneeling, vacuuming, washing, and working in different weather conditions. Some vehicles will be relatively clean, while others will require more time and effort.

Attention to detail matters. We work around our clients’ personal property and vehicles, including expensive and high-end vehicles. The right person must be patient, careful, and willing to do the job correctly.

At the same time, this position offers the opportunity to learn professional detailing skills, work with a wide variety of vehicles, and grow with a local business.
